ARLINGTON, Virginia (AP) ? Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom is practicing again, two days after taking an elbow to the head.
Backstrom took part in the Capitals' full workout on Thursday before departing with the NHL team for a West Coast road trip. Washington plays at San Jose on Saturday.
Backstrom was elbowed by Rene Bourque in the 3-1 win over Calgary on Tuesday. Bourque has been suspended five games by the NHL for the hit.
Backstrom underwent tests to determine if he suffered a concussion. The Swede said he felt fine after practice, and coach Dale Hunter said the forward was doing better than expected.
Backstrom has a team-high 42 points for the Capitals this season.
